Please note the following:
- The Balint Spring Weekend at Whalley Abbey, 27th to 29th March 2020 has been postponed until later in the year (hopefully this will be held late October).
- The Two Day Leadership Event in Cardiff, 30th to 1st May 2020 has been cancelled.
- The Dublin Balint Experience, 16th & 17th May 2020 has been postponed.
- The London Leadership Training Day, Swiss Cottage Hotel, 5th June 2020 has been cancelled.
- The Two Day Event in Newcastle, 25th to 26th June 2020 has been postponed until further notice.
- Oxford weekend at Corpus Christ, 2nd to 4th October has been cancelled.

Balint Weekends/ 2 Day Events:
27th – 29th March 2020: The Balint Spring Weekend – Postponed
The Balint Spring Weekend is a residential weekend based at the peaceful & comfortable conference house of Whalley Abbey on the Banks of the River Calder in the grounds of the ruined abbey. Non-residential places are available.
Time will be spent in case discussion groups in which doctors, psychotherapists, counsellors, practice nurses, other allied health professionals, medical, nursing and other students can share and explore their feelings about their patients in the safety of small groups or in a Balint Group Leaders Intensive Workshop which will run concurrently, for those already with Balint Group experience who want to learn, practise & improve their group leadership skills. There will also be a peer supervision group for Balint Accredited Leaders who would like to discuss their group and/or practise leadership skills.

30th April & 1st May 2020: 2 day Balint event in Cardiff – Cancelled.
The Cardiff Two Day Event is open to anyone on their way to Balint leadership accreditation or current Accredited Leaders. It will run over two days – Thursday 30th & Friday 1st May 2020.
Participants will have the opportunity to lead and participate in at least 4 Balint groups within their allocated group which will add to the richness of the Balint experience.
16th May & 17th May 2020: The Dublin Balint Experience – Postponed.
The Dublin Balint Experience is a one-and-a-half day forum of Balint groups, discussion and conversations, being held in Orlagh Country House. A Georgian mansion built in 1790, Orlagh is set on 45 acres in the foothills of the Dublin Mountains, with uninterrupted views of Dublin City Centre, Howth Head and the Irish Sea.
Dr Emma Nelson, Dr Hugh Nohilly and Réamonn Ó Donnchadha Ph.D., are co-ordinating the second iteration of this event on Saturday & Sunday 16th/17th May 2020. We are following the more established events of Sligo and Belfast, with the guidance of the UK Balint Society, in providing the opportunity to be part of an experienced Balint event. The registration fee is €170 (£140). There is limited accommodation onsite, but there are several hotels within a twenty-minute drive of the estate. We welcome expressions of interest to participate in the Dublin Balint Experience, and in particular from accredited leaders, who would like to lead Balint groups during the forum.

25th – 26th June 2020: Newcastle Two Day Balint Event – Postponed.
“Roots and Shoots in Balint Work” – This two day non-residential event, held at the Lancastrian Suite in Gateshead, will be of interest to all who are involved with Balint work, and will include a mix of talks and group discussion. On the evening of the 25th, all delegates are invited to attend an evening meal at the Bridge Tavern, which is included with the registration fee.
Talks – We will be exploring the origins of Balint work, its “roots” in Michael and Enid Balint and anchorage in psychoanalytic thinking, as well as looking at some of the more recent “shoots” and developments of Balint in medicine and other disciplines. We are also very fortunate to have Dr Raluca Soreanu, Reader in the Department of Psychosocial and Psychoanalytic Studies at Essex University, as our Speaker at this event.
Groups – Groups will include a Balint Group suitable for everyone, a Leadership Development Group for Accredited Leaders or those on the Acreditation Pathway and a Pyschodrama Group led by Dr Jean-Pierre Bachmann & Dr Esti Rimmer.
13th November – 15th November 2020: Balint Weekend Belfast
The Balint Weekend Belfast is a non-residential weekend based at Malone Lodge Hotel, in Belfast.
This weekend will provide an opportunity for clinical, allied health and other professionals and those in training to explore their feelings about patients in the safety of small groups. A Leaders Workshop group will also be available for those wishing to learn, practice and develop their group leadership skills.
The fee for the weekend will be £140.00.

One Day Events
5th June 2020 – London Leadership Training Day – CANCELLED.
This workshop, held at Swiss Cottage Hotel, will be of interest to those leading Balint groups and Balint style case discussion groups who wish to examine and develop their leadership skills. The day will count towards leadership accreditation.

Group Leaders’ Peer Supervision Workshop Dates
Birmingham Peer Supervision Group: If you are leading a group, or are interested in becoming a leader, this is for you. The intention is to provide supervision support in a group setting. We meet every two months at Edgbaston Golf Club, Birmingham, B15. The meeting is usually on the third Thursday of the month, from 7-9pm.

The Balint leaders peer supervision group is open to anybody in the region who is running a Balint group. We meet for 2 hours and have time to discuss one or two groups as well as discussing some more general issues. There is no charge for this group. If you know anybody who is involved in Balint and is not on the mailing list please feel free to invite them to come along.
