As we begin to advertise a number of events for the Autumn/Winter 2020 period (some of which are now taking place online) please note all events are subject to change, dependent upon Covid-19 and the latest government guidelines.


One Day Events including Online

5th November 2020 – Online Balint Leaders Workshop ** Event Full ** 

**This online workshop replaces the June 2020 London workshop which was canceled due to Covid-19**

This workshop will be of interest to those leading Balint groups and Balint style case discussion groups who wish to examine and develop their leadership skills. We will explore some of the successes, difficulties, and pitfalls in leading such groups in a variety of different settings. Due to current uncertainties, it will take place online on the Zoom platform. You need a secure wi-fi connection and preferably a PC to work on with camera and sound, or headphones and microphone

4th December 2020: Online Balint Study Day – ** Registration Now Open **

We are pleased to be able to offer the usual Bristol Study Day online this year using the Zoom platform, and delighted that Gearoid Fitzgerald will be joining us and giving the introductory talk. The aim of the day is to further build on the success of previous Balint study days and to bring together those with interest in and experience of Balint work.

Balint Weekends/ 2 Day Events: 

13th November – 14th November 2020: Balint by Zoom in Belfast **Registration Now Open**

This year, due to Covid-19, we will be holding the event online. Friday evening and Saturday only.

Registration will be at 6.45pm, and our opening speaker will be at 7pm – Dr Suni Perera will speak on “Balint Covid-19, The doctor-patient relationship: my experience of consulting in this new normal“.

We will have three Balint sessions and related activities, and conclude on Saturday at 2.30 pm. A wonderful opportunity for busy professionals to reflect on their work, and we always have a warm welcome to those of you who are new to Balint.

Balint “Spring” Weekend  – ** Provisional Dates **

We are hoping to hold the Spring Balint Weekend online during March 2021. Details of this are yet to be confirmed. This page will be updated as soon as the details are finalised.

Unfortunately, it looks like the usual face to face weekend at Whalley Abbey will need to be postponed until April 2022 due to the uncertainties surrounding Covid-19.

Group Leaders’ Peer Supervision Workshops

** Please note that due to Covid-19 these supervision groups may have been moved online/or currently be on hold. Please contact the group organiser by email for further information. Alternatively, you can contact the Balint Administrator – administrator@balint.co.uk**

  • Birmingham Leaders’ Peer Supervision Group: If you are leading a group, or are interested in becoming a leader, this is for you.  The intention is to provide supervision support in a group setting.  We meet every two months at Edgbaston Golf Club, Birmingham, B15. The meeting is usually on the third Thursday of the month, from 7-9pm. Please contact Dr Shake Seigel for further information.
  • Tavistock/London Leaders’ Peer Supervision Group : Please contact David Watt if you are interested in presenting your group. Meetings usually take place at the Tavistock Clinic, 120 Belsize Lane, London NW3 5BA however at present due to Covid-19 they are to be held online using the Zoom platform. Next meeting dates as follows: Tuesday 3rd November, Thursday 4th February, Tuesday 4th May 2021. All meetings begin at 8pm and end at 10pm.
  • North East Peer Supervision GroupPlease contact Jane Dammers if you would like to attend or present your group. The Balint leaders peer supervision group is open to anybody in the region who is running a Balint group.  We meet for 2 hours and have time to discuss one or two groups as well as discussing some more general issues.  There is no charge for this group.  If you know anybody who is involved in Balint and is not on the mailing list please feel free to invite them to come along. The next meeting will take place 10am – 11.30am on Zoom, Thursday November 12th 2020.
  • North West Leaders’ Peer Supervision Group: Please contact Ceri Dornan if you would like to attend this or future meetings. Next meeting: to be decided.
